As the only non-profit hospice in the region, we are able to go above and beyond Medicare requirements with special services that others can’t match. And it’s all because of generous donors like you!
Recently, it meant that we were able to respond to the COVID-19 crisis immediately by expanding technology we already had in place to fight isolation and stay safely connected. We rolled out our Henry Hooker Alive Connect telehospice program to support more virtual visits in our own residences when we had to limit in-person visits. We also brought it to our patients in long-term care facilities for the first time, so they could still access our chaplains and social workers during quarantine.
At our Grief Center, counselors maintained safe connections with clients via virtual sessions, created easy-to-do art therapy videos for people staying healthy at home, and shared tips for coping with COVID with the Tennessean. Thanks to our years of fundraisers with The Bluebird Café we were able to call on our musician friends to share song videos since they couldn’t visit patients in person, and our regular crew of dedicated volunteers turned to grocery shopping, meal cooking, mask sewing, and letter writing to support our patients and families.
These programs are only possible because of your gifts. We are grateful for your support!
