Become Part of Our Story
Alive took root more than 40 years ago in Middle Tennessee when a small group of local pioneers (now honored in the Health Care Hall of Fame) came together to establish the third hospice in the U.S. Today, we remain true to our local roots as an innovator and leader, helping our friends and neighbors in Middle Tennessee live well until the end.
We envision a world with time for final words to be spoken and wishes fulfilled, where the end is as sacred as the beginning, and no one has to die alone.
Together, we create it.

Alive & The Bluebird+
Since 1993, The Bluebird Cafe and its family of songwriters have generously donated the proceeds from their January shows to Alive. As the years have passed, Alive & The Bluebird has become a joyful reunion where old friends reconnect and new members of the community are welcomed into the circle.
Our music series kicks off at The Bluebird Cafe and maintains the spirit of The Bluebird shows while broadening the experience across multiple venues – throughout the entire year.
Featured artists from previous years have included: Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Desmond Child, Charles Esten, Kathy Mattea, Garth Brooks, Jason Isbell, and many more.
Supports: Non-profit services such as financial assistance to patients, grief counseling, and community education about end-of-life care.

Memorial Butterfly Release+
Our memorial butterfly release includes live music, crafts, and refreshments. Families and children love this community event that acknowledges loss while focusing on joy.
Butterflies symbolize our lasting love and the spiritual renewal of a new season. We’re honoring loved ones who are gone from our sight, but not from our hearts.
When you participate, you are also helping Alive’s patients and families write a special final chapter together. All funds raised support our nonprofit services including grief counseling, community education, and financial aid.
