Jan Jones,
President and CEO
Jan Jones has been involved in end-of-life care since the early days of the hospice movement in the United States. She has served as president and CEO of Alive Hospice since 1997. A nurse by training, Jan believes that quality end-of-life care is a right, not just an option. As president and CEO of Alive Hospice, Jan oversees the agency’s home care program, hospice inpatient facilities and bereavement services. She is chair-elect of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s Board of Directors and serves on the board of the Foundation for Hospices in Sub-Saharan Africa, among other leadership roles. She is a member of the National Hospice Work Group and a former president of the Tennessee Hospice Organization. Jan values spending time with family and is an avid dancer.
David Tribble, M.D.,Chief Medical Officer
As chief medical officer for Alive Hospice, Dr. David Tribble is responsible for the oversight of medical services at Alive, including development of policies and procedures, supervision of the agency’s physicians and, in partnership with the chief operating officer, setting direction and standards for clinical services offered by Alive. End-of-life care has been an area of interest for Dr. Tribble since his medical school days. He has worked in end-of-life care for more than half of his 33-year career in medicine. Dr. Tribble is a graduate of the Temple University School of Medicine (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania); completed his residency at Naval Regional Medical Center (Charleston, South Carolina); and served as a general medical officer in the U.S. Air Force for seven years before entering private practice. He is board certified in family medicine and hospice and palliative medicine. Dr. Tribble counts woodworking and photography among his passions.
Nanette Mathe, ChaplainNanette Mathe is a chaplain who serves as part of Alive Hospice’s Murfreesboro-based team of caregivers. As a hospice chaplain, she provides spiritual support to patients and their families of any religious background by helping them find comfort in their own faith traditions. Her duties include visiting patients in their homes and in local nursing homes, conducting funerals, and co-leading grief support groups. She earned her undergraduate degree at Trevecca Nazarine University and her master of divinity degree from Vanderbilt Divinity School. She is currently working on her doctor of ministry degree at Wesley Theological Seminary, focusing on community health issues and the roles of the clergy and the church in working toward healing communities.
Ruth Williams, LCSW,Grief Counselor
Ruth Williams is a grief counselor at Alive Hospice’s Madison office. There, she provides bereavement support services to adults and children who have been affected by the death of a loved one. These offerings include individual counseling and quarterly grief support groups. Williams earned a master’s degree in social work from the University of Tennessee. Before joining Alive Hospice, she was in private practice for 17 years and provided individual, family, and group psychotherapy services.
Janny Adkins, RN, BS, HN-BC,Account Executive
As an Alive Hospice account executive, Janny Adkins offers educational information about hospice to physicians, nurses, social workers and case managers at hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and assisted living facilities as well as patients and families. She was previously an Alive Hospice admissions nurse and has had a long career in hospice care, having started one of the first rural hospices in the United States in Iowa and lobbied for the Medicare Hospice Benefit.
